Taiwan Cuisine for lunch

by : Lee Wei Shan

On 19 September 2012 , Adriane , Bella , Jo Yan , Huey Wen , Vanessa , Jacelyn , Sam , Leo , Hong Xian and I went to a restaurant that serve Taiwan cuisine named Fong Lye (逢莱茶房) in Sunway Pyramid for lunch. The shop is located at Sunway Pyramid LG1 ,43A , Lower Ground 1 .

As what I mentioned above , Fong Lye is a restaurant that serve Taiwan cuisine . From the menu , I saw many famous Taiwan cuisine such as Three Varieties of Supreme Diced Chicken , Tea Smoke Duck with Bee Hoon , Pork mee sua  , the popular Taiwanese snow dessert and many other tempting dishes. I ordered Sesame Chicken Mee Sua for my lunch as I have never had this before. Mee sua is a white Chinese noodles.

The sesame chicken mee sua set was delicious . It was served with a bowl of sesame chicken soup, a bowl of plain mee sua with a few red dates on it and 3 side dishes . For a person who like the taste of sesame oil , officially it is my first choice to order the sesame chicken mee sua from the menu . The sesame chicken soup that aromatized with sesame and with hints of rice wine is really tasty but it will be better if a cup of Chinese tea is serve because it is too oily to finish the sesame chicken soup . The Chinese tea would help to cleanse the oil.

The sesame chicken mee sua set costs RM19.80

I think the prices of the food in this restaurant are quite reasonable but the drinks are a bit costly . So , only Sam and Hong Xian ordered and shared a snow dessert . The others just took some plain water to save our pocket money. Besides all the main dishes , we also ordered sweet potato ball as our appetizer for only RM5.30 . Ten of us went for lunch on that day and each of us ordered a different set for lunch . We shared our dishes  so that everyone can have a different taste and give some comments on the foods.

Apart from that , I am impressed with the services of the waiters and waitress in this restaurant . They are polite, courteous and efficient. They say “Welcome” and “Thank You” to all the customers . Besides , during our meal , Sam accidentally dropped his chopsticks , and within a very short time , a new set of chopsticks was replaced without us asking for it . The same case go to Leo and Jacelyn . What a good service ! The restaurant is also very clean which is a very important issue. The decoration in there is very attractive and friendly too.

The total amount for our lunch on that day was RM253.90 . That was really a heavy lunch for students like us but we really enjoyed our food very much . It was a great experience having lunch with friends and some of them took down notes after eating because they worried they would forget everything after a few days .

Overall , everything went on well on that day , I really hope one day I can try all these Taiwan cuisine in Taiwan .
