A Great Experience in Fong Lye Taiwanse Restaurant

After celebrating Radha’s18^thbirthday with a group of my classmate at Rock Cafe on Wednesday, 19 September 2012, Adriane, Huey Wen, Bella, Jo Yan, Sandra, Vanessa and myself were planning to have a lunch at Sunway Pyramid shopping mall for our business communication assignment. Besides our group team members, our classmates Hong Xian ,Leo and Sam were followed us to Sunway Pyramid to have lunch together with us. At the beginning, all of us were planned to have lunch in Fullhouse Lifestye Store and Cafe at Sunway Pyramid because we found that the decoration of white design concept has inspired us because it is similar to the popular Korean Drama titled “Full House” and the yellow Mini Cooper "car porch"display in the cafe have attracted us too. So we decided to have a lunch there and proceed to view the menu but we discovered the pricing at this cafe were too expensive for our budget. 

Therefore, we proceed to look at other restaurants surrounding there. One of our group members, Vanessa have suggested for western food, Tony Roma’s which is on the same floor with Fullhouse Cafe. So, we looking around for the restaurant and we found it after walking for a few restaurants away. Our group members entered to enquirer their price and we noted that theirs food were pricey as well likes the previous cafe, Fullhouse but their foods look delicious and exotic on the menu. On the other hand, Huey Wen suggested that we should have our lunch at the next door restaurant , Fong Lye Taiwanese Cuisine restaurant .Our group members has deliberated for a long period of time on which restaurant shall we have our lunch. So, we took a look of the price menu at Fong Lye Taiwanese Cuisine restaurant.

After seeing the Taiwanese cuisine’s price menu, we finally decided to have our lunch at Fong Lye Taiwanese Cuisine restaurant because the prices looks more reasonable to our budget and the foods look more filling to us.

Fong Lye Taiwanese restaurant is one of Malaysian favorite and they have 4 outlets throughout Klang Valley, serving Taiwanese street food and up market food. This Taiwanese restaurant is located at the lower ground 1^st floor around the ice skating ring and it was just between Tony Roma’s Restaurant and Sakai Sushi Restaurant. It is one of the stores that can easily recognize due to the lighting used.

 

The waiters has guided us to have a sit and giving out the food menu to let us to have an order. Once I stepped into Fong Lye restaurant, I feel very comfortable because of the interior design of the restaurant is very attractive and nice, especially the chairs which is in sofa was really comfortable and it’s make me feel like the feeling of "home sweet home".. ^^. Moreover, there have a few structures of children display in front of the Fong Lye Taiwanese Restaurant.

Fong Lye Restaurant serves mainly Taiwanese food, focusing on rice, noodle and the popular Taiwanese snow desserts.The design cover of food menu was simple and nice with two little small owl cartoon on it.The menu was quite extensive, with a focus on the standard set meals that comes with a platter of three appetizers, a bowl of rice with minced pork and a small bowl of soup which varies from day to day. It’s also served different kind of drinks and desserts that have listed in the menu.

After we have decided the food, there’s a pencil and paper for us to write our order and pass it to the waiter.The ordering style is pretty much like Kim Gary restaurant. It took us about 10 minutes to decide those food meals because that was so many choices on that menu.Each person of us has ordered difference type of food set meal. Adriane have ordered Steamed Fish With Pineapple Set RM19.80 and Sweet potato balls RM5.30,Huey Wen have ordered Crispy Chicken Chop Set with Rice Set Meal RM19.80and Iced Lime Juice RM6.90, Bella has choose BBQ Drumstick that cost RM19.80,while JoYan’s choice was Three Varieties of Supreme Diced Chicken RM19.80,Sandra was Sesame Chicken MeeSua Set Meal RM19.80 and Vanessa has ordered Stewed Beef in Hot Pot Set Meal RM19.80.Moreover,Hong Xian has ordered Dry Udon Beef Set Meal RM19.80 and a dessert called Taiwan Snow Mountain that cost RM9.30, while Leo was Spare Ribs Set Meal RM19.80 and Sam’s choice was Fried Sliced Beef with Green Onion Claypot set meal RM18.90 .For me, I really took the longest time to take an order on my food because there was too many choices in that menu. Finally, I have decided to order the Fresh Tomato Fried Egg with Fish set meal that cost RM19.80.



This was the food set that I have ordered.

After waiting around 15minuets, the set meals that we had ordered have been served by waiters. The Fresh Tomato Fried Egg with Fish set meal that I had ordered which came on a little wok with fire below. The set also came with a bowl of soup, some side dishes and a bowl of braised pork rice. The fried egg was smooth and the tomato gravy was simply awesome because it was very flavorful and rich with tomato essence. It’s definitely reminded me of home cooked food sometimes. Besides, it also has some pieces of fish fillet inside with the fried and tomato sauce. The fish fillet and fried egg was very soft and fluffy in texture, with rich of fresh tomato gravy on a mini stove with flame to keep it warm. The tomato sauce of this meal will make opening up your favor and it’s suitable for those people who like sour dish. The 3 side dishes for this set meal was a cup of baked cheese with seafood crap meat, some vegetable and the dessert was ‘’mua chi’’ .I like the ‘’ mua chi’’ because it is so delicious and the peanut filling inside was so soft and crunchy. The food was tasty and the service was quite fast. I do recommend people to try this Fresh Tomato Fried Egg with Fish set meal.

I kept busy taking photo with my food while other of my friends was still enjoying and eating their food at Fong Lye Taiwanese Restaurant.

You can see flavorful and rich of the tomatoes gravy with fish fillet and fried egg on a little wok .

 

       Braised Pork Rice
Fragrantly stewed pork was top on a bowl of plain steamed rice, making it as a dish to savor. The portion of the rice is extremely small, I wonder why they so stingy on giving more rice. But it was nice to eat with Fresh tomato fried egg with fish.

A bowl of Soup

As for the side dishes, the soup served that afternoon was seafood clams with pork ribs and winter melon.  The soup that came with the set was superiorly boiled as well and the pork rib was soft and nice to eat. The soup was so special because it has seafood clams and winter melon with it. These make the soup tastier. I like the soup so much because it just like a bowl of ‘’herbal’ soup=)

I wish the portion was bigger. It’s quite nice and we ordered this as it could be seen on most tables. We got attracted by the cute look and so Adriane had ordered this sweet potato balls. The sweet potato ball which is extremely chewy on the exterior and yet it is airy on the inside. I can distinctly taste the delectable sweet potato and given its small size, you can pop it in your mouth.It was nice and crunchy. I first thought it has something inside but it is empty instead.

The service in Fong Lye Taiwanese Restaurant was very impressed.                                                                                                                                                                        

The waitress immediately replaced a new chopstick for me when I dropped my chopstick on to the floor. 

The total billed for our foods after charged with 10% of services charge and 6% Government Tax came to RM253.90. Foods here were delicious but it’s quite expensive. While the main dishes were pretty reasonably priced at less than RM 20.00, however the drinks are pricey and that why I did not order drink at Fong Lye Restaurant. For your information, this restaurant did not accept credit card payment, but they only accept cash payment.

Overall, the lunch was pretty good and delicious. First time at here and the food was nice. Definitely, I will visit the restaurant for second time, because there was so much more of food that I want to try at here!!

Before we leave and went back to college, we had taken a picture in front of the Fong Lye Taiwanese Restaurant as a memories .Therefore, its gives me a great lunch experience with my friend and all the foods here are really very yummy! I would like to recommend people to come over this restaurant.

FongLye restaurant @ Sunway Pyramid

Last Wednesday 19^thSept 2012, my group members for the business communication subject and I went to a restaurant , which is Fong Lye Taiwan Cuisine Restaurant at the Sunway Pyramid shopping centre for doing our 2^nd assignment about blog writing. My group members are Adriane, Sandra, Bella, Hueywen, Jacelyn and Vanessa. My course mate , Sam , Hongxian and Leo also followed us to this restaurant.  At first , we planned to go Fullhouse restaurant also at Sunway Pyramid , but it was over our budget . So, we changed our plan and went to Fong Lye restaurant, because we thought that Fong Lye may offer better value of money.
Something I wanted to highlight here is this is a  NON-HALAL restaurant. 

Once we went in to the restaurant, waiters welcoming us with their genuine smile and bring us for seat. We were brought to sofa seat which is very comfortable and nice to chit chat. The first impression when I went in is quite ‘ high class’ because it was nice decoration.  The ambience there is relax, clean, and beautiful. You can see from the pic below:

This restaurant also have various type of food, you can choose either you want to eat noodle or rice. For starter or dessert , they have their most popular starter which is the sweet potato ball. 

Adriane who are one of my group members ordered their popular starter and I tried. It’s nice because the sweet potato filling is soft and they make it in ball shape and fried it. The outer layer is crispy and the filling inside is soft enough , so when combined together , it’s AWESOME!  

For my main dish, I ordered  ‘san bao chicken’ rice set . Their rice set included starter,  main course which is ‘san bao’ chicken rice , soup and dessert , it cost RM19.80. It’s  consider quite cheap and reasonable because all their food come with big portion.

For starter included in the rice set , they gave cheese bake salad. It’s nice for cheese lover . 

The main dish is really very TASTY!!!! The main dish is really very TASTY!!!! As the taste is sweet, salty and just little bit spicy. It suit me a lot !! It’s also included a bowl of white rice and not the normal simple white rice. There is braised sauce and braised meat above the white rice. Rice set also contained a small portion of vegetables.  One of the reason that the main dish tastes good is frankly, quite simple – because the dishes are warm. The main dish is constantly being heated with a cooker under it to preserve their warmth and taste. Cold food = bad food, simple as that.

For the soup, I just felt normal, nothing special because I’m the person who don’t like to have soup when eating.  

Their dessert is fried ‘mua chi’ .IT'S NICE!!!!!
There is peanut filling inside mua chi and the fried it. So, it’s crispy outside and crunchy peanut inside. I Love that so much!

My friends also satisfied with their dish. Some of them praised its smell and taste to the skies the moment they has polished off the dish.

I was super full after having dish because as I said before , they come with big portion which is really full for girls. My friends and I spent hours there because the relaxed ambience there just make us felt like not going back. We also took lots of picture because it’s super fun when you when to lunch together with friends and it’s a must to take picture J

Lastly , I also have to praise their service because it was really good. For instance, my friend accidentally dropped his chopstick to the floor , but just 2 second , you don’t have to ask for a new chopstick , waiter will bring it a new chopstick for you. The waiters also didn’t showed their ‘not happy’ face as a lot restaurants have this problem .

So overall, I’m satisfied with it and feel like going there for the second time :D

First Experience for Taiwan Cuisine

One of the more popular restaurants in the Sunway Pyramid is Fong Lye Taiwan Cuisine. Fong Lye located on the fourth floor above of Ice Skating Ring inside Sunway Pyramid just beside Sakae Sushi restaurant. Fong Lye has been touring around in our eat list for quite some time but just recently, we paid it a visit. Besides having heard of their great Taiwanese fares, their cute interior made us fell for it more. As with most famous restaurants, there’s actually full of people. Fong Lye serves mainly Taiwanese food, focusing on rice, noodle and the popular Taiwanese snow desserts.

It was first time I try Taiwan food. I was there on a weekday which is on 19^th September 2012 with my friends, and still there got a lot of people! Lucky for me, when I reached there, there were enough places to fix us. The decoration in the restaurant was amazing and fantastic. The scenery make me felt comfortable. The songs quit nice and suitable for us. The waiters welcomed us to our table very friendly. My friends were 10 people included me at the table. My friends are Joyan, Adriane, Bella, Sandra, Vanessa, Chun Sam, Leo, and Hong Xian. 

Before decide what  I want to eat, take a photo first. This is menu and me.

The waiters gave a menu each person. We took about 10 minutes for decided what we want to eat. Leo was writing the order for us. Finally, I choose Spicy Chicken Chop with Rice set meal which is cost RM19.80, Ice Lime Juice RM6.30 and shared Sweet potato with Adriane each person RM 2.65. When we ordered the foods, Bella asked about the food and then the waiter explained to her nicely. Everyone ordered different type of food. 

This is Ice Lime Juice that I had ordered. The taste was too sour. However, I liked it because it is my taste. Between waiting the food, we took some photos and chatting. And then, our food was served. When I saw everyone food, it made me felt hungry.
Finally, The waiter sent me my food. This is Spicy Chicken Chop with Rice set meal. I am pretty sure this is a very typical Taiwanese dish but its very flavor some as well. Best goes with the rice. Generous amount of meat too. Each set comes with 3 appetizers and with an additional soup.

During we ate our food, Sam dropped his chopstick on the floor. On a second, the waiter came and gave him a new chopstick. And then continue by Leo and Jacelyn dropped their chopstick. They also brought a new chopstick for them. The restaurant services can give a finger licking good. Besides that, they always smile and charming.

After we finished our food, we asked for bill. It cost RM253.90.It was quite expensive, however I felt happy and enjoyable with the food. I really enjoy the food. We felt extremely excited during eating the food. The food not only delicious but it also makes me felt satisfied. This was a delightful lunch for me. Next time, I will go to the restaurant for try other food.
